The nearby town of Castelnuovo (2 km from the villa) has many restaurants, cafes, bars and fabulous independently owned shops as well as banks, a tourist office and a lovely square where performances take place. There is a weekly outdoor market and a number of good supermarkets.

Nearby Barga (10km) is an atmospheric historical town with strong Scottish family connections and an array of festivals and art exhibitions.
